"Yo Junima" and "Kina Maya" were popular numbers from his debut album "Love Area". Now, after this debut moderate hit, Udesh Shrestha has recently come up with his brand new album "Rahasya". He says, Love Area had left the people with many questions and you can find these answers in "Rahasya". We approached Udesh for a candid talk to know more about his music, life, the album "Rahasya" and many more.
Here
are some excerpts of the interview.
1.
When did you start singing?
I used to sing during my school life. When I was in eighth grade, I used to listen and sing Kishor Kumar and Bhakta Raj Acharya's songs and I used to listen to Radio Nepal. I was interested in music at a very early age. After SLC, I felt I should take it as profession. In 2057, I used to go to Aarohan music school and practice myself.
2.Your debut album was love area. Why did you choose that particular name? How was the response?
First I had thought of keeping "Bhakkano" as the album title. But Naresh Dev Pant suggested me to name it as "Laberiya", later on, it happened to be Love Area. The album was brought in the market by Samjhana Audio Video (SAV). Two music videos from the album was released, "Yo Junima" and "Kina Maya Ma". The response was very good. I myself sponsored the "Yo Junima" video and I also have a 50% share in another video (kina maya ma). Honestly speaking, I myself promoted the album, among my relatives and friends. I didn't get so much cooperation and promotion from the music company.
3. Besides music, what do you do?
I have opened a music studio at Putalisadak in partnership with my friend. It's "Dhwani recording Studio", New Plaza.
4. Your recent album is Rahasya? How is the market response?
The album response is good but these days the selling has become little bit slow.
A video of this album was planned to be released in the month of Chait, 17, but it was released late. Simosh Sunwar has directed the video.
The dummy audio that was used for video shooting was on aired along with the final video. Simosh Sunwar knew that the master track was different but the dummy audio was used in the video. This has affected a lot in the album sales. Because of the dummy audio, the vocal and sound quality has been affected a lot.
5. What are next the promotional plans for "Rahasya"?
I am making a new promo for the album and also planning for the new video. I am also planning for a solo concert in Kathmandu but the date has not been finalized.
6. Have your taken any music lessons?
I have not taken any musical classes till now.

7. How is your life at a personal level?
Life is busy. These days I have started feeling myself as a public property. Before, life was carefree. But now as an artist, I feel like I have more responsibilities.
Regarding my studies, I just passed the certificate level. Before, I used to have a clothing store. Because of the business and music, I had to quit studying. Now, I have a studio on partnership.
I am single, I think married life is more difficult so first I am thinking of managing everything and then only I think I should marry.
8. Personally how do you describe yourself?
I'm a simple guy. I wish good for everyone. I am like "Na aatine and na mattine" type person.
9. Music for you is…..
It's my soul.
10. Why did you choose the album title as "Rahasya"?
I have taken the goodwill of the first album "Love Area" as a base. Also, the song "kina Maya ma" is a reason for this. Whenever I went to give the interviews, I was asked, kina maya ma eti dherai huncha? I thought I should be a secret, mystery, that's why I thought about the album title as "Rahasya". Why there is so much pain in love, that no one knows, so that is a secret mystery and you need to find out the answer in "Rahasya".

11. What kind of songs is there in "Rahasya"?
It has a variety of music.
The number 1 tack, timrai lagi has a techno arrangement. Similarly,
Natak – aadhunik melody & arrange slow rock
Eklai – unplugged live
Rat Din – nepali folk sentimental love song
Bhool - soft, sentimental
Bitholdina – Sentimental K chahanchau -60’s type reggae type
Murda – It's an experimental track. I think people should not miss listening to it once.
Ratdin (live unplugged version)
12. Why do you think people should listen to your album? What specialties do you think you have in your music?
It's related to love. Every person loves to love and be loved so how it feels when someone you love leaves or when you are all alone and your loved ones are not there. So it's related to everyone so that's why people should listen to it.
13. At last, any message to your fans?
Please listen to good music, support artists. Please buy the original cassettes, CDs of your favorite artists so that your favorite artists can do other albums in the future.

14. Do you want to tell anything?
I want to thank all the print, electronic, online media and media people for their support. I hope I will always be a part of your love and support. Support Nepali music artist and Nepali music.
Lastly, this is my first interview in cybersansar.com and I am very thankful and happy. As an artist, at first I had thought cybersansar do not approach any music artists and I had thought that we have to go but I got a call for this interview, I am really very happy. I love this website. I think cybersansar should always focus music artists like this and promote them. Thanks a lot once again.
