Candid talk with Sujil Karmacharya

The Nepali music industry was gifted with a group of enthusiastic new comers in the year 2055 with their debut moderate hit, "Khyal Khyalaima". They made a remarkable entrance in the musical field. Their unique kind of music won the hearts of many people. Yes, we're talking about the "Seasons" band. During the candid talk with Sujil Karmacharya, the vocalist and the lead guitarist of the band, he reminisces about the bygone days of his personal and musical life, his present scenario and his future aspirations.

Could you tell us about the formation of the band?

When I was in hostel, I used to watch Munna, Chandra and Guddu (who used to sing in club) with guitars. They both used to sing and play very well. Gradually in their company, my interest towards music evoked and I became a part of their team.

How did "Seasons" start its musical career??

We organized our first concert on 2052 in Hetauda when our songs were not even recorded. The responses were positive and that inspired us a lot. Then in the year 2055, we released our first album "Khyal Khyalaima". "The Seasons" was our next venture and now recently we've released our new album "7 X 3=21".

The album's name is quite interesting. How did the concept strike your mind??

Well, this time we've tried to make it quite commercial. The album contains a song"7 X 3=21". So we thought why not try with numbers. We knew its uniqueness would draw everyone's attentions and anxieties.

"Seasons" is always well known for its individuality in the songs. What kind of flavors have you added in"7 X 3=21"?

This time we've tried to give different tastes with the blend of Arabian music, Spanish and techno. We've worked hard to bring out this album.

Could you tell us about your preparations in bringing out such a good compilations of music in a single album?

We've done two years of workout for this album. We used to write songs, compose and then try. Some songs are tracked 2, 3 times. We've tried our best to give a different taste.

Please continue…..

We used to share concepts and then write songs. Composing and writing is much easier for us than conceptualizing a song.

Your band has three vocalists. How are the songs distributed?

It's very simple because we go for different kind of music. I basically go for high pitch sentimental parts, mid range romantic ones are chosen by Munna and Guddu's choices are funny numbers. So we don't find any difficulty with it.

How much is it advantageous and disadvantageous while having more than one singer in the same band?

In our band I think it's more advantageous because we can give different tastes to the people. The variety in vocals gives birth to versatile songs. The only disadvantage is that sometimes in the concerts when one is unavailable; the other one has to sing that part on behalf.

A peek into Sujil's personal life-

Aiming as a civil engineer, how did you step into music?

I joined my band after my SLC as I've already mentioned. At that time, my aim was not even properly set. Though I aspired to become an engineer, music was always my first love.

You are seen in music videos also. How did you decide to become a model?

I don't call myself a model. I can't act, I can only sing well. I was just given an opportunity to perform and I did it. Modeling just happened. I'd like to call myself a performer more than that.

Sujil, what are "Seasons" future plans?

We've worked hard to reach up to this place and we are constantly endeavoring to give our best. We'll continue in the same way in the future. Let's hope for better.

Best of luck for that. So how are the responses from this album? Have you been able to collect any?

The album is just released and it will take time for people to listen and judge the album. We are getting mails and the responses are positive. We have our fingers crossed

Lastly, any messages for your fans?

We've given our best in these two years. And we expect something from it. We've tried to give all types of music, so, please listen to it. Our album will give people their value of the money. You are free to pass your comments and suggestions .Please write to us so that we can learn more.
