If you are a Nepali music aficionado, you should have feasted yourself with the music video that is still topping the music charts, "Keti Timi Katti Ramri Dhekheko..." Isn't Payal Shakya(the model in the music video),our former Miss Nepal running through your mind right now? Yes, this debut song of MadZone, a budding hip-hop group in the town has won a few acclaims and most importantly, has been successful in creating their distinct identity.
When asked the reason behind embracing hip-hop as their genre of music, this is what they had to say, "Somebody started it and we're just giving our hands in support!". CyberSansar presents our readers a candid talk with MadZone.

Hip hop stars usually give themselves a new name after they introduce themselves as an artist. Do you have to say anything regarding your names?
We call ourselves as "Lil B" and "Psycho Mastah". Lil B simply means little – 'lil' and B for 'Bhai' – That's my name, Bhai Krishna.About the other name, 'Phycho Mastah', it's related to madness which is also our band's name– MadZone.

When did the band take its form?
We're schoolmates and we were great lovers of hip hop music. We wanted to do something with this music and in the process; the band was born on 2003.

Why did it take a long time for the debut album to hit the markets?
The recording process was finished much earlier but we were searching for good music companies.

How have you been influenced by hip hop music?
There is a freedom of words in hip hop music. You can express anything on any topic and hip hop is all about facts. But yes, it also has its own limitations and barriers.

Tell us more about the album?
There are presently 9 songs in the album while one song had to be discarded. It was related to the country's current situation and we had some contents which according to the music company, had to be avoided. The songs have metal and jazz fusions, rock and jazz fusions, Nepali music, total hip hop and club beats. We have 2 English and 7 Nepali songs; all related to the various aspects of life and love.

How do you compose your music and songs?
First we compose the melody of a song. Then we go to the arrangers for the beats. After we listen to the beats, the lyric is written down. Lastly, the song gets recorded in a studio.

Tell us about the video "Keti Timi".
We were first confused about the location of the video and its location but after it was shot, we found it interesting and unique.

How did the album do commercially?
Very good. It was much more that our expectations.

Whom would you consider as the major influence for this album?
Naughty soul kid (Nirnaya Shrestha). He has supported us immensely throughout the album making process.

Which music artists do you prefer listening to?
2 Pac, DMX, 50 cent, Eminem and almost every Nepali artist.

Do you have to tell anything about hip hop music?
Hip hop music is a western culture and it has its own positive and negative aspects. We constantly try to blend it with contemporary Nepali musical style.

Tell us about the album's cover?
Our music was new so we tried with a new concept of cover designs and thought of experimenting with cartoons. Sarobar
Kasaju(CyberSansar) translated our idea into artistic reality.

What are your future projects?
We'll start our next album very soon.

Lastly, any message to your fans?
Love Nepali music, support nepali artists, listen to our songs, comment us and suggest us. Please buy our cds (smiles). Save music and stop piracy.
