I am 18 years old , I have a very good boyfriend but he insists on
penetrative sex, what's the normal age in which teens to have sex ?
Cool girl, kathmandu.

Dear Cool girl,
There's no such thing as a "normal" age for becoming sexually active. Deciding whether to have sex is a highly personal decision that can be influenced by a variety of factors, such as religion, family and personal values, peer influence, and the status of your relationship. It's important to think about where you stand on the issue. Here are a few questions to ask yourself before you decide:

. Do we both believe that sex should only be shared in a marriage or other committed relationship?
. Do we both think that two people should be in love before having sex?
. Do we both believe that a person should be a certain age before having sex?
. Are we both prepared to prevent unintended pregnancy and sexually transmitted infection?
. Are we both prepared to deal with the consequences if pregnancy or infection occurs?
. Are we both prepared for our relationship to change?

There are no right or wrong answers to these questions. Sexual decisions are a matter of personal beliefs and values, but it's important to think them through before you take the plunge. Talking about your views on sex with your partner is also a good idea. And sometimes it's helpful to talk things through with a parent, a friend, a professional counselor, or someone else who cares about you and what will be good for you.

Can you get STDs or Sexually Transmitted Disease from kissing?
Kalimpong, India

Yes. Although kissing is considered a lower-risk kind of sex play when compared to intercourse and oral sex, it can transmit CMV, hepatitis B, herpes, and syphilis. CMV and hepatitis B can be present in saliva, and herpes and syphilis can be transmitted through skin-to-skin contact, particularly at times when sores are present.

I have learned that girls have to bear pain while having sex for the first time , Asking interestingly does it hurt the guy when they have sex for the first time.

Sex should not be painful for guys unless something is wrong. For guys, pain during sex can be caused by an infection, an allergic reaction to spermicide or latex, or by an irritation from previous sexual or non-sexual activities. If a guy is experiencing pain during sex, it's a good idea to make an appointment with a clinician.

Some girls experience pain the first time they have vaginal intercourse because they have a hymen — a thin piece of skin that stretches across the opening of the vagina in girls. In some girls, there is so much tissue that stretching the hymen open during first intercourse may cause pain and bleeding. Guys do not have hymens, so this is not an issue for them.

Do birth control pills cause an abortion?

No, this is not true. Abortion ends a pregnancy. Birth control pills, as well as the ring, the patch, the shot, and emergency contraception pills, prevent pregnancy before it happens. They work by preventing ovulation — the release of an egg — and/or the fertilization of an egg.

What is masturbation?

Masturbation is when you touch your genitals and other parts of your body for sexual pleasure and release. A lot of people – both guys and girls -- do it. Surveys say that 80 percent of males and 59 percent of females have masturbated by age 18. Some do it more than others. Some never do it.
Masturbation is a safe way to enjoy sexual touch. There’s no chance of disease, pregnancy or broken hearts.
And, it’s a good way to relieve the pressure, without jumping into the world of sexual intercourse with another person. In your early teen years, your body changes. Hormones make you feel tension in your penis or vagina. This tension builds and can get really uncomfortable until you find a way to release it. Masturbation is one way to do that.
It's also a good way to get used to your body and your sexual feelings without the complications that come sometimes when you have sex or do sexual things with someone else. It can help you learn how your body reacts to sexual touch. When you’re ready to have sex with another person, knowing this can help you tell you partner what you like and what you don’t.

I've heard that for females if you masturbate a lot then you waste all your reproducing eggs and that means you cannot give birth in the future..is it true?

No — this is a total myth! Masturbation does not cause a woman's ovaries to release an egg, and it has no affect on her fertility. Eggs are released during ovulation, which usually occurs about 14 days before a woman's period begins — although there's a chance that it may occur at any time during her period. Ovulation happens whether a person masturbates once a day, once a month, or not at all.

Masturbation is a perfectly healthy activity, whether a person is female or male. Although some people may worry that masturbation is harmful, it is actually one of the body's most effective ways to relieve stress. For women, it is one of the most common ways to learn how to have orgasm, and it can be used to ease menstrual cramps.

Can the hymen grow back if you don't have sex for a while and if so would that make you a virgin again?

No, the hymen cannot grow back once it has been stretched open. The hymen is a thin, fleshy tissue that stretches across part of the opening of the vagina. The hymen can be stretched open the first time a girl has vaginal intercourse.

Some people believe that a woman whose hymen has been stretched open is no longer a virgin. But having a hymen and being a virgin are not the same thing. There are other ways that a woman can stretch her hymen, including using tampons, insertive masturbation, riding a bicycle, or doing gymnastics.

Virginity means never having had sex. People may define "sex" differently. Most people agree that women and men lose their virginity the first time they have penile-vaginal intercourse. Many people also believe that people who have sex with someone of the same sex can lose their virginity through oral or anal intercourse. But regardless, there is no way to "regain" virginity — being someone who never had sexual intercourse — no matter how long anyone goes without having sexual intercourse.

Can I get pregnant if my boyfriend has sperm on his hands and then touches me?

It’s possible, but not likely. The only real chance of pregnancy happening just from touching is if your boyfriend just ejaculated and puts it directly in your vaginal opening.

Why do I have irregular periods?

It can take up to 3 years from the time a girl starts menstruating for her body to develop a regular cycle. Even then, what's regular varies from person to person. Girls' cycles can range from 21 to 45 days.

Changing hormone levels might make your period short one month (such as 2 or 3 days) and more drawn out (such as 7 days) the next. You might skip a few months, get two periods almost right after each other, have a really heavy period, or one so light you almost don't notice it. (If you're sexually active and you skip a period, though, you should visit your doctor or a women's clinic to make sure you're not pregnant.)
All this irregularity can make planning for your period a real hassle. Try to keep track of when your last period started, and guess that about 4 weeks from that day you could be due for another. If you're worried about wearing that cute dress and suddenly starting your period at school, just make sure you pack protection. Carry a pad or tampon in your bag, and wear a pantiliner to handle the first wave.

When it comes to periods, every girl's body has a unique (and unpredictable) timeline for getting on track. If your period still has not settled into a relatively predictable pattern after 3 years, or if you have four or five regular periods and then skip your periods for a couple of months, make an appointment with your doctor to check for possible problems.

How long can sperm live in open air?

Not long. Sperm live in semen, the fluid that comes out of the penis when a guy ejaculates, or cums. The semen nourishes sperm and gives them something to swim in. If the semen dries up, is wiped away or absorbed into clothes, the sperm die. Sperm also can’t live long in open air because they need semen and a constant temperature.

Is it true that if a guy doesn't masturbate enough, he has more chance of a wet dream?

Guys tend to have wet dreams less often if they ejaculate while they're awake, either from masturbation or sex play with a partner. Wet dreams are one of the ways the body gets rid of the semen that builds up. Wet dreams are healthy, naturally and pleasant. There's nothing to be embarrassed about. Most teenagers have them, and a lot of adults have them too.
