More than a dozen veteran singers performed live at the “Rock The Square” concert just this past Saturday at the Nepal Academy Hall in Kalamadi. The singers present were Reema Gurung, Sworoop Raj Acharya, Dhiraj Rai, Hemanta Sharma, Minghma Sherpa, Shruti Singh, Pramod Kharel, Rajina Rimal, Badri Pangeni, Janadardan Sharma, Dipak Limbu, and the comedian team of Meri Bassai. There is nothing quite like hearing that song that’s been stuck in your head — incessantly playing on repeat — finally materialize in front of you live. That’s exactly what Rock The Square fulfilled to audiences when extraordinaire singer like Yogeshwor Amatya performed effortlessly “Jaba Sandhya”, the crowd went ballistic; audiences began to communally dance salsa along with him, followed by a vista of raised mobile phones. Not only that, when folk singer Badri Pangeni performed his lok dohori duet “Ma Ta Nepali”, it sent the crowds to stage dancing in full of vim and vigor. Though a charity event for Aarambha Nepal, singers such as Rima Gurung and Shruti Singh were also present singing while promoting their new albums. Social Media Nepal is behind Rock the Square; and this event is especially to promote the Aarambha Nepal - residential drug and alcoholic rehabilitation center. The host for the program was Saroj K.C.
